Hello, I'm Gabriella!
I am an illustrator and educator born and raised in Puerto Rico. My interest in art began after watching cartoons on my family's TV. In 2019, I joined the MICA community to pursue a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration. After a year, I enrolled in the Master of Arts in Teaching 5-year capstone program. During my undergraduate years, I took on the role of president of the MICA Sequential Arts Club. In this role, I hosted opportunities for students to showcase and sell their work, such as the annual Zine Fest, and organized events to enrich my classmates' experiences with illustration, including trips to the Small Press Expo and biweekly meetings.
My artwork uniquely blends storytelling and play into exciting illustrations, which directly informs my teaching by engaging students in creating dynamic visual narratives where they share their unique perspectives with the world. I graduated with a BFA in Illustration, earning Magna Cum Laude honors in 2023 and a MA in Teaching in 2024.
In my free time, you will find me playing tabletop role-playing games, doodling, and taking care of my plants.
